Compensation Contactors
Sigma Compensation Contactors are contactors specially manufactured for compensation systems.
High inrush currents occur when capacitors are switched on and off in compensation systems. These currents can reach values high enough to damage the contacts of standard power contactors. Therefore, special compensation contactors with the capacity to withstand the high currents that occur instantaneously in compensation systems must be used. The excessive current drawn when the capacitors are first energized is reduced by current limiting resistors before it reaches the main contacts of the contactor. This ensures that the contactor contacts are not exposed to the high currents generated during the energization of the compensation system. This prevents mechanical and electrical stress. Furthermore, the special V0 flame-retardant macaron used on the outer surface of the current limiting resistors prevents any fire risk during the passage of high currents. Sigma Compensation Contactors ensure that the compensation system has a longer electrical and mechanical life.
For use with power capacitors ranging from 2.5kVAr to 75kVAr
